This is all the kits I have to build right now for the site so we are gonna be busy. These kits are listed as solder practice so I also put solder practice here. Soldering is pretty straight foreword. Desoldering can be much more of a problem and we will be spending more time on it. As far as learning anything more from kits other than soldering you will not learn much electronics other than soldering, parts identification and following directions.
I just love putting them together and firing them up for the first time. I try to find stuff that will help you in your electronics journey. There is at least one FM radio and a couple of handheld games in there. There is an oscilloscope kit and parts tester kit there as well. Most of these kits are under 20 dollars. Some are only 6 or 7. There are a couple that are a little over 20. The Elenco power supply was $99 at the time and the multimeter was $45. It also tests transistor’s and capacitor’s I think. The scope was 23 dollars but you have to watch what you are buying. There is 3 versions. First is built, second is you solder everything even surface mount and third is the one you want. It has the surface mount already on it. We will be doing surface mount soldering here so if you want that scope kit go for it!
I put all that stuff into a box called the goodies box and put it under my bench. I think one of the first things I will do is a parts tester.
